Chapter Five
Sasha
I sat at a red light, twirling around the necklace on my neck, looking out the window, and watching the cars speed past me. I had so many things on my mind, and oddly enough, painting wasnât one of them. I was on my way to Shawnâs place to check up on him as well as apologize for Ronâs actions yesterday. What he did was uncalled for. I knew that I would have to explain to him who Ron was and why he did what he did, even though I wasnât completely sure myself. Letting out an exasperated sigh, I had a flashback of last night and what transpired.
âLook, shit hasnât been going good between us since the outside of the activity center. So Iâm willing to give you what you want. If you can look me in the eyes and tell me that you donât want me to be in your life, then Iâll make that happen.â
When he spoke those words, I raised my head and looked him square in the face. Though I was hurt by his word choice, I couldnât be mad at him for speaking the truth. I was the dummy who allowed him to do that shit to me. But for him to throw it in my face like that was uncalled for. He didnât even have the decency to apologize. That only proved to me that he didnât give a fuck about me.
I opened my mouth to tell him that I didnât want to be with him, but my heart stopped me. No matter how hurt I was by his words, I knew that I couldnât bring myself to say that to him. So I did what I did best. I remained silent. Secretly, I wanted him to beg me to be with him, but it didnât happen.
After about an hour of not speaking, he grabbed his keys and took me home, not uttering a word to me.
I didnât get much sleep. I spent the whole night thinking over who was the better choice for me. After much deliberation, I made my choice. I just prayed that I wouldnât regret it.
Finally, I pulled up to the house Shawn had rented for his stay here. He didnât know that I was coming over today, so I was glad to see his car parked in the driveway. I took one last deep breath before exiting the car. Knocking at the door, I waited for him to answer. When I didnât get an answer, I knocked again. The wind was blowing hard, making it difficult for me to keep warm. Maybe he was sleep or something. Iâd just come back later. I started to walk away, but then he finally appeared at the door.
âWhat are you doing here?â he called out to me.
I turned around to say something, but my words were caught in my throat once I laid eyes on his appearance. He stood there with nothing but some jogging pants on. I ran over to him, placing both of my hands gently on his face.
